On December 11, Vivalyte had the privilege of attending a special event at the Benaki Museum in Athens, celebrating the extraordinary career of Eleftheria Deko, one of the world’s most influential lighting designers. The evening marked the unveiling of GrD Magazine’s final 2024 issue, a stunning 150-page tribute to her career, philosophy, and artistic contributions to the world of light.
Eleftheria Deko’s work has illuminated stages, architectural landmarks, and even the world stage during the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, where she designed the lighting for the opening and closing ceremonies—earning her an Emmy Award. Over her career, she has collaborated on hundreds of performances and architectural projects, combining her passion for lighting with a meticulous approach to design. Eleftheria’s ability to use light as a tool for storytelling has inspired countless designers and continues to set benchmarks in the industry.
As part of this celebration, Vivalyte was approached by Eleftheria Deko to create a unique, LED-lit magazine cover for the upcoming GrD Magazine magazine honoring Eleftheria Deko’s legacy. The project required a quick turnaround, but thanks to our engineering expertise and diverse product range, we delivered a nice solution.
The illuminated cover featured a circular LED panel, powered by a USB-C rechargeable ultra-flat battery and equipped with a gesture-activated sensor. This innovative design added a glowing touch to the magazine, making it a fitting tribute to a designer whose work has always been about bringing light to life.
The cover was unveiled alongside the magazine during the celebration night, symbolizing both Eleftheria’s artistry and the seamless integration of technology and creativity.
We are honored to have contributed to this memorable event and to have had the opportunity to celebrate the life and work of Eleftheria Deko. Her legacy continues to inspire us as we strive to push the boundaries of lighting innovation.
